HRD Burn Course

December 1-2, 2023

Target Audience: Certified teams, or teams that have completed the HRD Land Beginner, Intermediate, and/or Advanced workshops. Teams from local, state and federal organizations that are responsible for responding to structure fires or wildfires.

Topics: We will be utilizing several full limbs that will range from smoke exposure to complete ash. Exercises will include burns with and without accelerants. Teams will have the opportunity to first expose their dogs to the range of sources during alert station drills with smaller quantities then moving up to small structures with burned human remains. There will also be distractions common to wildfires and structure fires within the burn exercises including food, clothing, and other household items, along with animal remains. Teams will have multiple repetitions on all odors during the two day workshop.

Availability: Space is limited to 30 working spots. Unlimited auditor spots available.

Schedule: December 1, 0900 – 1600

December 2, 0900 – 1600

Cost: Working Spot (1 dog only) $600, Auditor Spot $150

Meals: Lunches will be provided each day.

Location: Waynesville, OH

Hotels: A block of rooms will be held near the training site. Upon completing your registration, you will receive an email with hotel information so that you can reserve your room.

Prerequisites:
1. Dog must be at least 12 months old and have at least 6 months of HR training at the time of the workshop.
2. You should have or be preparing to take a HRD Land certification from a national or state agency. If you have a current certification a copy can be uploaded during the registration process.
3. Dog must be current on core vaccinations per AAHA Core Vaccines: Rabies, and Combination vaccine (Distemper, Adenovirus-2, Parvovirus, +/- Parainfluenza). Current titers also accepted. Information can be found at:

Payment must be received for registration to be complete. Once the registration form is complete you will receive a receipt and email confirmation.
